    • I am a multidisciplinary artist, who believes the most important thing being an artist is to have freedom of thinking. When I work, I try to understand the way, how we, the humans, perceive the world. How we interact with our surrounding environment. Based on this, my last works have been realized on way, representing the idea on many layers, arranged in multiple levels; from the shallow to the deepest, and which can be understood in many different ways.

    • During his studies at Sculpture studio of Jozef Jankovič, Sergio attended several sculpture exhibitions and symposiums. After completing his Masters in Oporto and returning to Slovakia, he switched to painting, drawing and collage. He combines disparate elements inserting objects into paintings (e.g. chips in 'Senhorita Batata Frita') or cut out pictures from the packaging and promotional items symbolizing the consumption. The chocolate boy has become a typical feature of Bacao. In several paintings resonate the topic of commercial culture and its criticism, as the author himself has said - we are surrounded by a commercial world which makes us very vulnerable (eg 'Vulnerability'). However, Sergio comments this world rather than directly criticizing it. His pictures are rather witty allusions to bind to the object of desire which can be a simple chocolate. The blond boy with a sweet smile in his face has become the logo of his works which he can cut out ten copies for one collage. Multiplication is the mean for propagation of commercial items and Sergio shows it now ironically. His smiles are a caricature of the 'american' smile and joy and parodies the material sufficiency. Irony does not abandon him even in other pictures when 'One for all and all for one' shows a whole family with the same face sitting in front of the TV that shows the one same face and on the right side a plant grows the one same face, or when a beauty of the Ads is shown as 'Meat'. Some works are much more personal and arose because of events that happened in Sergio's life. '3o tomate, 3.vajce, 3rd ball' is a game with different denominations of the male testes in various languages (Slovak, Portuguese and English) but it was painted due to an unpleasant disease personally experienced. 'Amor (Love)' – this painting might explain the cause of his staying in Slovakia: a slightly ironic diptych representing two deformed figures surrounded by a very hearted cardiac image. In the painting 'Seven years in Slovakia', the Slovak flag appears sewn to the Portuguese in which Sérgio's silhouette shines through. It is a symbolic image representing the two homes of Sergio. The sculptural objects are a return to the beginnings but dominant in the Sergio's production became the funny and ironic collage-comments to things around him and a collection of personal records. The exhibited is also a kind of playing with forms and experiments where the Sculptor is sometimes acting foolish but always through very refreshing creations.

    • I’ve started with biology and numbers but as education went on it was impossible not to follow the voice of art. In photography I found infinite possibilities to express my inner world and a magic wand of transmutation and communication. Through photographic series I give winds to my feelings and beings as an individual conscious of the unity, still lacking in our society. The illusion of duality is present in the dance between the sky and the earth, in the light and darkness of the images, with the inner child’s touch through a daydream journey, away from prophetic limitations. The tales are created from photographic materials; films, polaroid’s, pixels are brought together digitally like in a magic puzzle, with simplicity and the subtle beauty of imperfection. The delicate collage of photographic images gives form to a message in a dreamscape narrative. Maybe the solution relies in scratching until the extreme deepness of the heart and maybe visual poetry can inspire the belief in dreams, in change, in the never ending possibilities that can come true ♥ www.franciscaribeiro.com http://quintadaspraias.blogspot.com/

    • My work has a social and political commitment context through a critical and ironic dialogue. It is based on an active participation, a continuous process of learning, research and of transdisciplinary creation both collective and individual. It reflects around geographical and cultural borders, limitations, barriers, behavior, etc. Questioning the limits of the body –as a border- social prejudice and the difficulties that it entails in human relationships. I also work around the figure of the woman artist, heroin and migrant in transit, social violence and the constant struggle to survive in a hostile environment. On how the female image became powerful within the erotic and the market as a reflection on how cultural identities are constructed through certain stereotypes and patterns of popular mythologies.

    • "According to my own system and logic, I am interested in identifying an emotional and spiritual world". Mixed media artist ( installations, collages, video, public space projects ) Joanneke Meester (NL,1966) collaborating for ten years in an artist collective, which dedicated itself primarily to realising large-scale works in the public space. Since 2002 Joanneke Meester focuses on the development of personal, autonomous work. She studied at the Fine Art Academy and the Sandberg Institute ( masters of the Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy ) in Amsterdam. Her works are fragments, literally cut outs, of her thoughts, emotions, inspirations and actions with regards to the world she lives in. In 2004 she gained international fame with a pistol she made with her own skin. Her previous installations, sculptures and videos are the result of research into the subcutaneous violence, present in every human being. In her recent works she still addresses existential issues regarding violence, identity, daily life and imagination. Her new text-based works are appropriated from existing fragments of historical correspondence. The remains of the titles of the works are cut out of several materials, such as textile, cardboard, plastic, canvas, paper, etc. As the remains of derivative words there is a connection with language. This "new" created abstract world is more detached from the communication in the form we know it. So there is more space for the imagination and it creates a language with less limitations. Joanneke Meester produces works are presented in public space and at different international art institutions, galleries and museums including the Centre Pompidou, Moca Shanghai, Hara Tokyo. Her video works are included in the traveling collection of the Viva collections on tour.

    • visual artist who uses video and film as tools and documentary as language. he works with elements coming directly from reality to develop artistic works between documentary, experimental film and poetry. regarding the audiovisual construction acts as a sort of architect who knows that the framework is the key element of its building. raising a point of view is like building a space, both tasks can end up defining a vision: those of us who get into the room cinema, see what the camera shows us, and therefore, we will and we will embody that person who sees these things. in this sense, the work of chus domínguez makes it clear performative process that makes certain that, in the screen, we build as a look such as a concrete subjectivity. as we see in the film becomes more or less accidental and accessory, and what is important is where he puts us who are in the cinema room.

    • As an artist my conceptual interests began with the relationship between the (self )-representation and photographic technology. Crossing the boundary to the digital territory of photography and video, I inevitably started to question the medium as an interface between realities and bodies. I realized that each medium, furthermore the computational medium, transforms the message, therefore the way we perceive it. My statement is that we’ve been living surrounded by images/ representations and we’ve developed the anxiety of being one of them, we want to cross our own physical boundaries and exist on a two-dimensional surface: the screen. As (inter)actors we’re submitting ourselves everyday to the digitalization experience, we’re being in and out-puts without questioning the process in-between.

    • In my work I merge research in the field of Psychology and spiritual healing techniques (yoga, rebirthing, Reiki, tantra, shamanism…) with the different languages of the Modern Art (painting, performance, photography, video, installation art…). "Maga Producciones" is the logo created and patented in 2000 to represent my artistic works. It a personal view of the manipulation of advertising and marketing. I define my work as "products (artistic) to awaken the conscience". Within this line of work, and since 2002 when I had me Shamanistic Initiation with the Shuars in the jungles of Ecuador, I am conceiving my works as acts of psychomagic in the sense that each installation, paintings, photographic series or vídeo contains elements that heal some psychological or spiritual aspect of my personal evolution through a series of symbols and different actions relating to dreams, but at the same time I put my full will into making my creations a healing experience for the spectator identify with the images.
